The club has been in existence in various forms for nearly 50 years. We have been lucky to have the use of a part of Holdaway's farm near Dairy Flat for a number of years. Flying is on Sundays (depends on the weather of course) starting at about 9 am and finishing about 3 pm. Members can use the field 7 days a week during daylight so long as they observe the NZMAA and CAA rules.

Tauranga Auction

Howdy All

A couple of things to mention. I believe a few went flying on Sunday. having trampled down the worst of the divots in the runway. I don't know how successful that was. I wasn't there on Sunday as Mal, Chris and I went down to the Tauranga Clubs model aircraft auction at the Mt Manganui Aviation Museum. They had a perfect day for it and got a real good turn out. Heaps of planes, motors and accessories up for sale. There were even a few bargains to be had. Chris scored a "new in box" OS FS61 for a song as well as a 2:1 reduction gearbox to suit a 61 2 stroke motor for even less. It was a good day and suggest we organise a bit of a group trip next year. I have attached a few photos taken on the day.

Also attached is Johns instruction sheet for use of the electric fence. He will be laminating a copy and leaving it at the field.

Having just seen the weather forecast for the next few days, it doesn't look that promising for the weekend. Fingers crossed they have got it wrong again.

See ya later

Grant

Sunday in September

Gidday

Some flying actually happened today. Tony and Keith managed to brave the elements for a brief fly before the wind became too strong. Chris and I offered moral support while ensuring our hands were securely planted in warm pockets.( our own warm pockets)

Yesterday was the day for flying and as promised we saw the return of a past president sporting an electric, in the form of Terry Cosnett. (see pics) Terry has flown this plane previously with a speed 600 motor and suggested that the skin remained firmly attached to the rice pudding. Having updated with a brushless motor and suitable lipos the performance is now described as mind blowing. While not admitting to being hooked on electrics he is certainly taking a decent nibble on the bait.

It's pretty fair to say that Terry doesn't throw anything away, not even scraps of covering. (see pics again) For obvious reasons I suggest this plane be named Patch.

The track in is still driveable so fingers crossed we don't get too many big downpours.

Cheers

Grant
